Chinese Online Games Surge For Shanda

Chinese online game developer and publisher Shanda Games Limited announced its unaudited consolidated financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2009, and stated net revenues increased 39% year-over-year and 5% quarter-over-quarter to a record high of CNY1.33 billion.

Massively multiplayer online role-playing games revenues increased 44% year-over-year and 8% quarter-over-quarter to CNY1.27 billion. Active paying accounts increased 4% quarter-over-quarter to 9.42 million, and average monthly revenue per active paying account increased 4% quarter-over-quarter to CNY45.0.

For the full year of 2009, net revenues increased 42% to CNY4.81 billion compared to 2008. U.S. GAAP operating income increased 50% to CNY1.73 billion compared to 2008. Operating margin increased from 34.3% in 2008 to 36.1% in 2009.
