Zhongguancun Cloud Computing Industry Alliance has been set up as a measure for Beijing’s construction of a world-class cloud computing industry base.

The Zhongguancun Cloud Computing Industry Alliance is founded and formed by 19 members, including Lenovo, Cernet, the Research Institution of China Mobile, Baidu.com, Digital China, UFIDA, and Kingsoft. After the establishment of the alliance, it will cooperate with major cloud computing enterprises and research organizations in Beijing, strive to gain policy support from the government, and integrate resources from both upstream and downstream parts of the industry to promote the development of the cloud computing industry across the entire country.

According to Jiang Guangzhi, director for the software and information service department of Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, under a plan called “Auspicious Cloud Project”, Beijing will play its technology and industry advantages in the cloud computing sector; plan and distribute cloud applications, cloud products, cloud services, and cloud infrastructures in a reasonable way; and actively participate in international competition. By 2015, the scale of Beijing’s cloud computing industry is expected to reach CNY50 billion, making it a world-class cloud computing industry base.

In the next three years, the alliance will promote the construction of demonstration application projects, build cloud computing engineering centers, and develop a batch of products and integrated solutions with independent intellectual property rights. It will also lead and participate in the formulation of international, national, or industry standards to establish Zhongguancun as a cloud computing research center and industry base in China.
