Shanda’s Mochimedia.com Signs Agreement With 4399.com

Shanda Games’ small leisure game subsidiary Mochimedia.com has signed an agreement with 4399.com, a Chinese small game platform, making the latter its first Chinese major channel provider since its entry into the Chinese market.

Under the agreement, the two websites will share Mochimedia.com’s gaming contents, and Mochimedia.com will deliver its latest developed Flash games to 4399.com on a regular basis. At the same time, 4399.com will establish a special zone for games from Mochimedia.com on its front page, providing users with a convenient access to the world’s most popular Flash games.

Mochimedia.com is one of the largest online small game websites in the world and it has over 40,000 website partners in 48 countries and regions worldwide. The company was acquired by Shanda Games for USD80 million at the beginning of 2010 and it started to explore the Chinese market recently. The website now has 200 million monthly active users, nearly 30,000 games, and the number of its games is increasing by 2,000 every month.

Unlike Chinese small game platforms, Mochimedia.com has been focusing on the developers of games since its entry into China. It combines Shanda Games’ resources with the mature foreign business model to protect the copyrights and interests of game developers; to encourage them to concentrate on the development of games; and to help them gain actual revenue via its worldwide issuance channels.

To promote the development of quality Chinese-language Flash games, Mochimedia.com launched a game development competition in China in August 2010. The competition gathered Flash game developers across China, promoted the development of Chinese games, and expanded Chinese games to the overseas markets.

Huang Xiaohu, head of Mochimedia.com, told local media that the cooperation with 4399.com, which has 100 million users in China, is a major breakthrough for Mochimedia.com’s channel development in China. Mochimedia.com’s team is currently developing various channels, including the Internet, the mobile platform, and the TV platform, to enable Chinese users to enjoy the quality contents on Mochimedia.com.
