Huanqiu.com, Ku6.com Form Alliance For Internet Videos

Huanqiu.com, the website sponsored by Global Times, has confirmed to Chinese media that it will cooperate with the Internet video website Ku6.com to launch a new online movie channel.

According to a representative from Huanqiu.com, the company plans to cooperate with Ku6.com in the launch of an online movie and TV series channel and it will cooperate with PPTV, a Shanghai-based Internet TV new media platform, in the launch of a live channel. In addition, its own video channel is undergoing construction. Huanqiu.com’s video channel will reportedly open to Chinese netizens at the end of January or the beginning of February 2011.

The representative also revealed that Huanqiu.com’s videos will focus on international news and military news, which is consistent with the positioning of the website.

Huanqiu.com reportedly has reporter stations in over 140 countries and regions around the world. Therefore, its video channel will have access to some exclusive content.

Financial terms of this deal have not been disclosed.
