Chinese Internet security software provider Qihoo 360 and social networking site Renren.com have jointly announced that the two parties have formed a strategic partnership for Internet security and open platform cooperation in China.
Through the cooperation, Qihoo 360 and Renren.com will gradually consolidate their user accounts and Renren.com’s WebApp applications will be added to the interface of Qihoo 360.
The two parties reportedly started cooperation at the end of 2010, and they launched a Qihoo 360 security browser designed for Renren.com and a 360 edition Renren.com interface. The new strategic partnership expands the cooperation range of the two parties. Based on the cooperation with these browsers, the two companies will further develop other security products.
Apart from these actions, Qihoo 360 has added a new function on its browser product, allowing users to share contents with one click. With this new function, users can share web pages with their friends on Renren.com while browsing. In the future, 360 plans to add a one-click reminder function to its browser, which will help users of Renren.com check messages when they open the 360 browser.
Financial terms of the deal have not been revealed.
