Chinese e-commerce website Alibaba.com has published a notice about user identifications on its Chinese website, aiming to promote real-name registration on its website.
The notice states that starting from September 23, 2011, users who want to publish product supply information on the Chinese website of Alibaba.com need to first pass the user identification examination. For corporate users, they need to complete the enterprise real-name authentication; and for individual users, they need to complete the individual real-name authentication.
Current users of the Chinese website of Alibaba.com are required to finish the real-name authentication before September 23. If these users do not pass the authentication by December 31, 2011, their published information will be removed on December 31, 2011.
Alibaba.com said that the launch of the real-name authentication aims to further ensure the authenticity, legitimacy, effectiveness and integrity of identification information of users. The company is committed to offering an honest and secure e-commerce platform, and the real-name authentication is only the first step.
