China’s Perfect World Announces JV Plan With Nexon Korea

Perfect World Company Limited, an online game developer and operator in China, has formed a new joint venture with Nexon Korea Corporation, a global online entertainment company and publisher of micro-transaction-based massively multiplayer online games, to manage and operate online games in South Korea.

Chi Yufeng, chairman and chief executive officer of Perfect World, said that this strategic alliance between the two parties will help Perfect World further expand its user base in the South Korean market, and provide the best services to local users. Chi said the introduction of more of Perfect World’s online games into the South Korean market will help further strengthen their international reputation as a comprehensive online game developer and operator. More importantly, they believe Nexon’s creativity, strong desire to challenge itself, and customer-centric culture will bring sustained growth opportunities to the new company.

Min Seo, chief executive officer of Nexon, said they are very excited about establishing this new company with Perfect World to bring more of their titles into the South Korean market. This partnership will combine Nexon’s deep experience in publishing online games and well-established competencies in the South Korean gaming market with Perfect World’s rich and attractive content, and renowned R&D and operational capabilities.

Nexon Korea is the South Korean branch of Nexon. Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Nexon has launched more than 50 online games in over 100 countries, including the popular ones like “KartRider”, “MapleStory” and “Dungeon and Fighter”.
