UCWeb Plans Operating Platform In America In 2012

UCWeb, a leading provider of mobile Internet software technology and browser services in China, plans to establish its operating platform in America in 2012.

Yu Yongfu, chief executive officer of UCWeb, claimed in a speech that UCWeb’s browser product has gained over 50% market share in China, including 60 million active users from the Android platform. Meanwhile, the product is serving users in 150 countries and regions around the world. Over the past few months, the product achieved over 10% market share in six countries and its share in India apparently reached 20%.

Yu said that there are three important strategic markets for the mobile Internet industry: China, the U.S., and India. China is now the largest mobile Internet market in the world with over 400 million mobile netizens. With a population of over 1.2 billion, India is a promising market, and related analysis showed that India will become the country with the largest population by 2015, exceeding China. The U.S. is a traditional PC Internet market which has high recognition of innovation.

According to Yu’s comments to local media, the mobile Internet is not a competition of enterprises. Rather, it is a competition of industry chains. Over the past seven years, UCWeb established partnerships with telecom operators, device brands in China and abroad, and Internet manufacturers, including working with security companies for Internet security and cooperation with China UnionPay and Alipay.com.
