The9 announced that its interactive TV network subsidiary 9iplaytv.com had reached agreement with Beijing Gehua CATV Network to launch a gaming platform for high-definition interactive TV users.
The positioning of this new platform is to create a family interactive entertainment center, which enables users to play various games.
According to Zhao Jingyi, general manager for 9iplaytv.com, the company will launch more value-added products targeting the TV platform in the future such as online comics and games for children’s education.
The9 said that starting from 2008, 9iplaytv.com has issued over 100 game products on the interactive game channels launched by various provinces’ IPTV and telecom operators. With the growth of the HD platform’s user group, The9 has determined its new strategy will be to convert all of its products into HD ones and to further explore the Chinese interactive TV game market.
Founded in 2011, 9iplaytv.com is a subsidiary invested by The9. So far, the company has formed partnerships with Gehua CATV, Jiangsu Cable TV, Xiamen TV Broadcasting Company, and Shaanxi Broadcast & TV Network Intermediary Group Company.
