JD.com Publishes E-commerce Open Platform Support Plans

During its first open platform partner conference, Chinese B2C e-commerce website JD.com published four major support plans, covering technology, logistics, service, and finance.

Technology newcomer and former CCTV presenter Kate Yingchun Kui, general manager for the open platform business at JD.com, told local media that the open platform aims to become an overall solution provide for vendors and offer comprehensive services throughout the entire operating process.

For its technology support plan, JD.com will implement continuous optimization of its supporting products like store systems, vendor assistant, and instant messaging products. With the technology support, the company will support vendors to establish their customer service teams, telephone customer services, and instant messaging services.

For its logistics support plan, the open platform provides one-stop logistics services, covering warehousing, distribution, after-sales services, and customer services. According to JD.com, the company will open a 130,000-square-meter warehouse area for third-party vendors in the second half of 2013, and an additional 300,000 square meters will be opened in 2014.

For its service support plan, JD.com will provide hotline and instant messaging after-sales service support to vendors. At present, the company has over 3,000 employees working in customer service centers in Jiangsu and Chengdu. In addition, the company’s newly established customer service center is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2013, accommodating 6,000 seats.

For the company’s finance support plan, JD.com will further simplify its financial approval process to realize immediate arrival of payments on the completion of orders. In regards to the ever-important invoice fapiao issuance, the company will provide automatic issuance, proactive mailing, and real-time checking to make sure clients receive their fapiao.

Commenting on the four major support plans, Lan Ye, chief marketing officer of JD.com, said the open platform business will become an important engine for the development of JD.com. By 2016, the open platform business is expected to account for half of the e-commerce businesses of JD.com.
