Join the High Speed Rail Train Naming Competition and Win Wonderful Prizes

Hong Kong, China, January 25, 2018 /ChinaNewswire.com/ - As a major part of the city’s infrastructure, the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, which is targeted to be in service in the third quarter of 2018, will offer a fast and comfortable option of cross-boundary travel between Hong Kong and many cities in the Mainland of China. To engage the public and build up anticipation towards the commissioning of this brand new rail service, MTR Corporation is launching the “High Speed Rail Train Naming Competition”. Members of the public are welcome to propose a name which features the characteristics of Hong Kong for the full fleet of the Hong Kong-owned high speed trains on the Express Rail Link. The competition runs from today (25 January 2018) until 14 February 2018.

Interested participants are invited to propose one name, either in Chinese or English, for the trains by joining the competition online at www.xrltrainnaming.com. Those who prefer to send in a submission offline may call the High Speed Rail Train Naming Competition hotline at 2350 9708 and an application form will be sent to those interested for the purpose of submission of the proposed name. A judging panel will select one winning name and three merit awards from eligible entries. If the selected winning name is submitted by more than one participant, a lucky draw will be conducted to decide the winner.

The full fleet of nine Hong Kong-owned high speed trains will be named based on the winning entry. The winner of the competition will receive MTR Malls gift vouchers worth HK$10,000, first-class round-trip High Speed Rail train tickets to Guangzhou for two people, one-night’s hotel accommodation in Guangzhou for two people, and a High Speed Rail train model. Each merit awardee will receive first-class round-trip High Speed Rail train tickets to Guangzhou for two people and one-night’s hotel accommodation in Guangzhou for two people.
