In India, False News Inundates Social Media As Elections Begin

Indian elections began today, the first of several days of voting over the next few weeks. Nearly 900 million people are eligible to vote in what is seen as the world’s largest democracy. But the spread of fake news and disinformation across social media is testing the Election Commission. Here & Now‘s Lisa Mullins talks with the BBC’s Rahul Tandon () in Kolkata, India.
