Hong Kong Taxi Tryst Exposes Online Privacy Concerns

The next time you sit down in a taxi with a camera pointing at you, are you sure your privacy will be protected? For Hong Kong singer Andy Hui Chi-on and TVB actress Jacqueline Wong Sum-wing, they now know they can’t escape the glare of the cameras.

The married singer was caught snuggling and kissing the actress in a Hong Kong taxi video posted to the website of Apple Daily. The video sits behind Apple Daily’s paywall, and versions uploaded to YouTube appear to have been taken down in the past day as well.

In Hong Kong, providing the video for public consumption may constitute a violation of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance because it shows the identities of the people involved. There is no word yet if the celebrities plan to take legal action.
