Vietnamese e-commerce platform Tiki has acquired local ticketing start-up Ticketbox in an effort to build an “all-in-one” system.
Ticketbox, which was founded in 2013, offers event organisers ticket delivery and marketing solutions, as well as analysis and reports on consumer behaviour.
Tiki is Vietnam’s second largest e-commerce platform by traffic, selling products across 26 categories.
Tiki chief executive and founder, Tran Ngoc Thai Son, said at the announcement event in Ho Chi Minh City, according to KrAsia, that the acquisition will allow the firm to use Ticketbox’s assets and technology to better serve the Vietnamese audience and promote the national entertainment industry.
The ticketing firm has been investing in big data and machine learning, chief technology officer of Ticketbox, Nguyen Hoang Viet, said. He added that the acquisition will create a “connection between Tiki and Ticketbox platforms to benefit customers.”
Ticketbox’s development plan also includes a social networking element for its audience to share, discuss and review events and movies.
