Facebook Dating is here. Facebook, last year at its annual developers’ conference F8 2018, announced its dating service — Facebook Dating. While making the announcement last year Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said that the service would change the way people date. And now, nearly a year and a half later Facebook has finally rolled out the service in the US taking the total number of countries where the service is available to 20.
The list of countries where Facebook Dating is available includes the US, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, and Vietnam. Facebook said that it would launch its dating service in Europe in early 2020. As far as India is concerned, there is no word on the availability yet. However, with Facebook Dating hitting a number of South East Asian countries, the social media giant’s dating service should be available in India soon.
Apart from launching Facebook Dating in the US, the social media giant has also announced a number of new features coming to its dating service. For starters, soon people will be able to connect on Facebook using their Facebook and Instagram stories. “Today people are asked to make a decision as to whether or not they like someone immediately based on a static profile. To help you show, rather than tell, who you are, we’re bringing Stories to Dating,” Facebook wrote in a blog post. However, this feature isn’t live yet and it will be available on Facebook Dating by the end of the year.
In addition to that, Facebook is rolling out its Secret Crush feature, which it announced at F8 2019 earlier this year, to Facebook Dating. This means that the users of this service will be able to explore romantic relationships within their circle of friends. However, this feature will now include Instagram. This means that when users connect their Facebook Dating profiles with their Instagram profiles, they will be able to look for partners from their Instagram followers as well. Additionally, Facebook Dating users will also be able to share their Instagram posts in their Facebook Dating profiles. “Show aspects of your life to others, and find shared connections that spark conversation,” Facebook added in its blog post.
