Desi Twitter Can't Stop Comparing Rihanna To Indian Snacks, Yum!

Remember those comparisons of celebrity red carpet looks and Met Gala outfits with food? Well, red carpet events might not be back given the global pandemic and the entertainment industry coming to a standstill, but the food comparisons are making a comeback, at least on Twitter. A Twitter user thinks pop star Rihanna looks like a total (Indian) snack and now desi Twitter won’t stop pairing up Rihanna’s outfits with Indian food.

Twitter user @deepraaajjj decided that Rihanna’s hot fashion moments deserve mouthwatering snack-infused appreciation. The result is a delicious helping of Rihanna’s looks from the past few years and their snack equivalents. Somehow it makes total sense, how did we not see this before?

First up, a spicy serving of tandoori chicken with dessert to follow-

There’s nothing like the simple pleasures of chai and pulav.

I don’t know about the popsicle but that pink coconut barfi could be the reference for that amazing dress.

Now for some egg biryani and Rooh Afza. Holy Ramadan!

More sweets, anyone?

Okay, some of these, like the vada pav doesn’t make sense but that aamras is on point!

The chaat and paan corner is this way.

Everybody knows Maggi is the hottest snack, duh!

A little mix of spicy sour and sweetness to follow.

How about solkadi or samosa?

And some fusion every now and then?

Bless these summer coolers!

Some of these are bang-on dress-to-meal translations while others don’t exactly fit. But on a whole, we get it where this guy is coming from. There were some fresh entrants courtesy Twitterati who stand in agreement with the idea.

Not that Indian dishes needed much help but Rihanna made them look absolutely irresistible. The thread has Twitterati contemplating dabbling into Indian cuisine and the diverse mix of dishes that come with it. Meanwhile, others are craving their favourite snack now more than ever.

What’s great about this thread is that while it merges two otherwise unrelated pictures it isn’t done with the intention to ridicule food or celebrity fashion (both equally important aspects of social media). Instead, there is a wholesome appreciation doing the rounds of the social media platform.
