Now, Facebook is rolling out it’s WhatsApp payment services for the users of India after getting approval from the country’s regulators. It’s a significant launch for WhatsApp’s biggest market in India, and there are 400 million people who are using WhatsApp in their daily life. They first launched a beta service in India in 2018. Due to the data storage and sharing the data, they delayed a year by concern about the details.
Meanwhile, India’s regulatory body for retail payments gave its approval to WhatsApp on Thursday, the (NPCI) National Payments Corporation of India.
Mark Zuckerberg said that now you all can easily send the money to your family and friends, too, just like sending regular messages, you can send money on WhatsApp.

Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg suggested that during this covid-19 pandemic, it’s not safe to give money in cash, so it could be better for all to send digital money, and the digital payments will be safe and secure for all of us too.
Furthermore, WhatsApp’s payment system will use India’s national payments infrastructure, known as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). And this allows interoperability between different apps and is also used by Walmart’s google pay app and phone pay app, two of the largest UPI mobile payment providers in the country, controlling around 40 percent of the market.
One of the blog posts on Facebook said it had worked with five “leading banks” on its new payment service: Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, the State Bank of India, and Jio Payments Bank. More than 160 banks support the UPI (Unified Payments Interface).
