Twitter Adds Stickers And Twemojis To Fleets In Japan

Following the rollout of Fleets in November, Twitter is now expanding functionality with stickers and Twemojis in Japan.

Late last year, Twitter also jumped on the Stories bandwagon with its own version of the popular feature – ‘Fleets’ – albeit a simpler version lacking many of the creative and editing tools and AR-powered effects available on other platforms.

As more and more people start to use Fleets, Twitter will, in no doubt, expand with new creative options, but that might take some more time. For now, the microblogging platform is bringing stickers to Fleets – and specifically Twemoji stickers – in Japan.

Users can access a new stickers tray available by tapping on the smiley face icon in the Fleets composer. The tray also allows users to search for the sticker that expresses their thoughts more effectively. While users can pretty much copy Twemoji reactions with emoji from their keyboards, the stickers are a lot more practical to use in Fleets.

We don’t have an indication of what other creative features Twitter might launch over time, but we can only imagine that they will replicate or mimic those already available on other platforms. The current test is just a small indication of this.

Fleets stickers are available for iOS users in Japan at the moment. We can only assume the feature will expand beyond that market within the next few months.
