Agra: “Committing suicide”, man shares on Facebook before consuming poison, blames 4 women for harassment | India

Agra: In a shocking incident, a man consumed poison after blaming four girls who reside in his neighbourhood.

The man identified as Lavish Agarwal, who works as an insurance agent, wrote a post on social media platform Facebook blaming the four women.

As soon as the news of his consuming poison spread, police reached the spot and took him to a hospital, according to a report in Hindi daily Hindustan.   

A resident of Khawas Pura, the condition of the youth is said to be in a critical condition. The man has mentioned the names of four women in his social media post.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning. In his Facebook post, the man reportedly said he was disturbed by the harassment from the women.

“They had filed false cases of eve-teasing and rape against me. I have also complained to police against them but they (accused) did not budge and continue to harass me. Now, they have filed a false case against me in Sitapur. I have never visited Sitapur. I am now mentally harassed and decided to commit suicide. These two women and their friends would be responsible for my death,” he allegedly wrote on Facebook.

After reading the post, a social activist Naresh Paras immediately called SSP (Agra) Muniraj G and tweeted to the police. SSP has now transferred the probe to the cyber cell.  

The victim is undergoing treatment at SN Medical College and Hospital.

“The victim is registering his statement before a magistrate. He has talked about harassment by his women neighbours. Sometime back, a case was filed against the man by the friends of the two accused. He was disturbed since then,” said SHO New Agra police station.
