WhatsApp Last Seen Feature: WhatsApp may soon make a big change to the ‘Last Seen’ feature – Times of India

Ever since WhatsApp was launched, there was one feature about the platform that differentiated from other platforms and that was its last seen support. Now, WhatsApp has been spotted working on enhancing this feature. Currently, WhatsApp users get to choose between ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’, ‘Nobody’ for their ‘Last Seen’ activity to be visible. However, according to a report by WABetaInfo, the app is working on rolling out one more option called “My contacts except…” As the name suggests, this option will allow users to disable their ‘Last seen’ timestamp for specific contacts.
Readers must note that if they disable their ‘Last seen’ for specific contacts, they will not be able to see theirs, just as it is the case with when they choose ‘Nobody.’
When will this feature be rolled out?
The report claims that the feature is currently being developed for iOS users, but it is certainly expected to be rolled out to Android users too. As of now, there is no word on the expected date by which it will be rolled out.
Chat history migration across Android and iOS becomes official
Earlier this month, WhatsApp announced that it will allow users to move their WhatsApp history from iOS to Android starting with Samsung-branded Android devices running Android 10 or higher first. Although, it will soon do the same for other Android phone users too.
WhatsApp says that this migration of messages will happen without the messages being sent to WhatsApp in the process. In terms of what data can be migrated, the company says that it will include voice messages, photos and videos. It will not include peer to peer payment messages and call history. Readers must note that transferred data doesn’t go to cloud storage as a result of the migration, although users separately send this data to their cloud storage separately via Chat Backup.
