WhatsApp working on app with new features for Windows 11 – Times of India

WhatsApp recently rolled out a beta update with the multi-device feature for more users. The feature allows users to link secondary devices via WhatsApp Web to the primary WhatsApp account that’s running on the smartphone and send or receive messages and calls without the need for the primary device to be connected to the internet. Now, the platform is reportedly working on an app for Windows 11 and Windows 10.
According to a report by AggiornamentiLumia, the WhatsApp app for Windows operating system is largely based on the web version of the platform and it will be available to download from Microsoft Store. The report further mentions that the app may be based on Universal Windows Platform (UWP) which means that the app will be able to sync in the background and receive notifications even when it is not running.
As seen in the demo video, the app is quite fast when compared to the web version of the platform. The demo also indicates that the app has been in the works for quite some time and it was initially planned for Windows 10 as the search box and chat bubbles still use sharp corners, unlike Windows 11 design theme.
It looks like the WhatsApp app will also get some new features. The demo video also shows that apart from the ability to share contact, images, videos and other files, the users will also get an option to share drawing. As per the report, the drawing feature allows users to sketch up an image and share it with other users within the app.
The concept of the UWP based app was first teased by WABetaInfo almost two years ago. As of now, the company has not officially revealed any plans about the app but the latest report indicated that it will be rolled out to the public soon.
