year in review: Facebook begins rolling out “Year in Review” for users; Instagram gets Playback feature – Times of India

The year 2021 is drawing to a close and social media and online platforms are making sure they end up giving users something more than the usual like the year summary stories where from over the past 12 months, they choose the personalised moments they think are worthy to put in such a list. Google is already doing this with its Photos app and now Facebook has joined the list with the “Year in Review”. The Meta-owned platform has begun the rollout of the feature for both Facebook and Instagram users, as per a report by TechCrunch.
Facebook users will see a personalised “Year Together” card which they can share. The card will be composed of their major posts and moments with friends, places and people they shared on Facebook in 2021. The feature will be accessible until December 30th.
On Instagram, there is going to be an end-of-year “Playback” time capsule which users can share on their Stories. If you have posted more than three stories this year on Instagram or have the Stories Archives turned on, you can customise and select up to 10 stories to share with your followers. The feature will be available to users for several weeks. Instagram will suggest some Stories for the same which may help you pick up the ones that are the most worthy to be included in the Playback time capsule.
If you cannot access the features just yet, chances are that the rollout has not happened in your region yet. As per Meta, it might take 2-3 days for the features to reach everyone in select regions. More social media platforms like Reddit and Snapchat are also expected to launch similar end-of-year features for users as well.
