In what appeared like a scene straight out of a film, a policeman in Mangaluru chased and caught a cellphone snatcher on Wednesday. The incident got here to gentle after movies of the chase went viral on the social media on Friday.
The movies present assistant reserve sub-inspector Varun Alva, leaping out of his automobile after seeing a commotion at a distance and operating in direction of a person escaping from the scene. The chase by small alleys ends within the police officer arresting a person in a blue shirt.
The man was later recognized as 32-year-old Harish Poojary, who alongside along with his accomplices, was accused of stealing the mobile cellphone of a migrant employee from Bihar. The man whose cellphone was stolen reportedly labored at a granite manufacturing facility and he was sleeping at Nehru Grounds when the incident occurred.
Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar informed reporters that even he was on the junction when the incident occurred. He noticed a person chasing one other man, whom the police officer tracked down. The man recognized as 20-year-old Samanth confessed to stealing mobiles and stated that his associates had the opposite telephones.
The police requested Shamanth to name his accomplices and inform them to return to Mangaluru Central Railway Station. As police have been following Shamanth close to Hampankatte, Poojari ran to flee police and ASI Alva chased down the suspect.
“He tried to enter an auto rickshaw but they gave chase to the auto rickshaw and pulled Poojari out. The suspect got of the vehicle only to flee from the spot. Varun chased and pinned him down,” stated a senior official.
Mangaluru South Police have registered a case of theft and are on the lookout for one more accused, Rajesh, a resident of Ullal, who is alleged to be half of the gang.
Complimenting police personnel led by Varun, commissioner Shashi Kumar introduced a money reward of ₹10,000 for them on Thursday. He stated the arrest of the gang members will assist police crack instances of theft within the metropolis.
