People swarmed to social media to celebrate veterans, particularly those who served from 1955-1975, to commemorate National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

“Thank you to all of our Vietnam Veterans for your service,” country star Toby Keith wrote on Twitter. “Welcome home.”

“VA is honoring all warriors who served in the Vietnam War, including the Women’s Army Corps officers assigned to Vietnam — nearly 90% of them as nurses,” the Department of Veterans Affairs wrote in a Facebook post.

Nebraska’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial broke ground Tuesday to commemorate the holiday.

“I was honored to present Vietnam Veterans with a special pin today at the [Virginia War Memorial],” Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin wrote. “I hope you wear it proudly and know how thankful we are for your service.”

“As the wife of a Vietnam veteran, I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the veterans who served our great nation during the Vietnam War,” California Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard wrote. “58,318 names are inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in DC. 1500 remain unaccounted for. They will never be forgotten.”
