UP CMO Twitter handle gets hacked; account partially restored, tweets removed – India News

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Office’s official Twitter account was hacked in the early hours of Saturday, April 9. After almost 4 hours, the account was partially restored and the tweets posted by the hackers after taking over the account were removed.

After the investigation of the case by cyber experts, the strictest action will be taken against those responsible, the UP government said in a tweet.

After the UP CMO official Twitter was taken over by hackers, more than 400-500 tweets were made from the account. The hackers had also removed the Chief Minister’s display picture from the Twitter handle.

“The account was hacked for around 29 minutes in the night. The hackers posted around 400-500 tweets, and the account was suspended on grounds of unnatural activity. Efforts are on to restore it,” an official said.

However, Chief Minister Yogi started appearing on the Twitter handle’s picture again.

The hacker replaced the co-founder of the account with @BoredApeYC. As soon as the users became aware of the Twitter handle of UP CMO being hacked, people started complaining about this to CM Yogi Adityanath and UP Police with screenshots of the hacking.

A few hours later, the account was partially restored and the tweets posted by the handle when the account was hacked had been deleted.
