‘John Denver Trending’ to screen in major cities in South Korea

MANILA, Philippines – John Denver Trending is set to screen in South Korea, releasing on November 23 at CGV, Lotte Cinema, and Megabox theaters in major Korean cities.

The 2019 film tells the story of a 14-year-old student named John Denver, who is canceled after he appears in a single video that is taken out of context. 

The film stars Jansen Magpusao and Meryll Soriano, and was directed by Arden Rod Condez. It competed at the 2019 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival where it took home a slew of awards, including Best Film, Best Actor, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Musical Score.

It previously screened in South Korea at the Busan International Film Festival, where it competed under the festival’s New Currents section.

According to the Film Development Council of the Philippines, it’s the first Filipino film to get a wide release in South Korea.  – Rappler.com
