It’s official.
Pido Jarencio has returned as the head coach of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
UST’s The Varsitarian reported in a Facebook post on Friday, February 3, that Jarencio met with the UST management and finalized the deal on the same day.
The Varsitarian then shared photos of Jarencio being properly introduced to the team at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Jarencio, 58, previously led the Growling Tigers to the UAAP men’s basketball Season 69 championship in 2006 and to a Season 75 runner-up finish in 2012.
After Season 76, Jarencio went on to coach the NorthPort Batang Pier franchise in the PBA.
Jarencio looks to turn things around for the Growling Tigers who finished dead last in the UAAP Season 85 men’s basketball tournament with a 1-13 record last year under then head coach Bal David, who is also a former player of UST.
