Japanese role-playing-game The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie has received an official characters trailer ahead of its English-language release later this year. Game developer Nihon Falcom announced four games will be coming to the West for the first time, with Trails into Reverie the last to drop.

Originally released in Japan in 2020, the game is now set to release in North America and Europe in July, and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It forms part of the long-running franchise The Legend of Heroes, and is the tenth entry in the Trails series.

It follows the previously released Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, and Boundless Trails. The Trails games form an interconnected series, with characters from one game appearing in the others.

Reverie will serve as the epilogue to the series’ Crossbell and Erebonia arcs, with gamers able to switch between three different story arcs each with its own protagonist. Players can take control of war hero Rean Schwarzer, the liberator Lloyd Bannings, and a new masked character called ‘C’.

The game also features more than 50 playable characters, which fans can catch a glimpse of in a new trailer. The game’s synopsis reads: “This is where it both ends… and begins.

“Though they march on different paths, the destinies of Lloyd, Rean, “C,” and their allies are about to intertwine. Zemuria will forever be changed by the trails they walk.”

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch on July 7, 2023.
