Adams stays in Japan, joins Yamagata in B2 League
Filipino-American wingman Roosevelt Adams has decided to stay in Japan after signing with the Yamagata Wyverns for the B2 League’s 2023-24 season.
The 28-year-old Adams is fresh from a stint with the Kagawa Five Arrows where averaged 9.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 36 games.
“I’m very thankful for the new opportunity to join the Yamagata Wyverns. I am very excited to meet my new teammates, staff, and organization. And of course, to play in front of the fans of Yamagata,” Adams said, in an official statement posted at the B. League’s official Facebook page.
The 6-foot-5 Adams is just one of the many Filipino hoop talents playing in Japan led by the Ravena brothers Thirdy and Kiefer, Bobby Ray Parks, Dwight Ramos and Kai Sotto, to name a few.
Adams emerged as the Terrafirma Dyip’s top overall pick in the 2019 PBA Rookie draft. He played his first two seasons in the PBA with the Dyip, before deciding to move out and play for Kagawa when he signed a deal in September 2022.
