A first alarm has been raised in the areas surrounding the Marikina River after its water level rose to 15.7 meters on Thursday noon, according to the city’s Public Information Office in a Facebook post.
It said that all dam gates have been opened although the current level nears 16 meters after which a second alarm will be raised.

With rising water levels, the local government advised residents nearby to move their cars from the Marikina River Park to a safer place.
Meanwhile, a first alarm was likewise raised in the areas surrounding the Batasan Bridge in San Mateo, Rizal after its water level reached 18.83 meters, according to the San Mateo Public Information Office’s official Facebook page.
A second alarm will be declared when the level reaches 19 meters and a forced evacuation will be enforced once it reaches the critical level of 20 meters.
The Rizal provincial government asked residents in the affected areas to be ready.
