A viral TikTok showing a little insect, purported to be a bedbug, crawling across the TTC’s iconic red seats has created quite a buzz.
But in speaking with local insect scholars, the Star learned that encounters with pests are both inevitable if you live in a big city and not worth worrying about for most people.
When a report of bed bugs is received, the vehicle is immediately fumigated. Our vehicles are not considered a hospitable environment for bedbugs, but they can be brought on by passengers at any moment, unfortunately. We are in the process of testing new non-fabric seats. ^JS
