Mayday #5525 Live Tour In Singapore

Taiwanese rock giants Mayday’s two-night shows at the National Stadium will be quite a spectacle.

The main stage will have a giant LED sphere which they call a “heavenly time machine”, a Mayday “express bus” that will travel around the stadium, and also floating dancing balls.

The band have also promised to bring on several guest stars at the Singapore shows. They include Taiwanese boy band Energy, who performed at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in November.

Mayday lead signer Ashin, who was ill and had trouble singing during the band’s two-night gigs at the same venue in January 2024, has promised to make it up to the fans in the upcoming shows.

The concerts are part of a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the band, which also comprise bassist Masa, drummer Guan You and guitarists Stone and Monster.

This two-night performance celebrates the works of British theatre icon Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The audience will be treated to songs from some of his most famous productions, including Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, The Phantom Of The Opera and Sunset Boulevard.

The main singers come from the cast of The Phantom Of The Opera in West End – Josh Piterman, who played The Phantom, and Amy Manford, who played female protagonist Christine Daae. The duo will be backed by an orchestra conducted by Australian conductor Jessica Gethin.

Japanese fingerstyle guitarist Kent Nishimura’s upcoming concert will be his first in Singapore.

The Osaka-born musician has been wowing audiences since he released his debut album First Step in 2015 at the age of 12.

Often praised for his innovative approach to playing the guitar, he was the youngest grand champion when he won the 17th Annual Fingerpicking Day, Japan’s premier fingerstyle guitar competition, in 2017.

His albums, such as My Favorite Songs (2018) and Fingerstyle Solo Guitar Songs (2021), include unique renditions of popular songs such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller (1982) and The Eagles’ Hotel California (1976), as well as original compositions like Midnight In Bogota (2018).
