Kyiv has not committed to Moscow’s three-day ceasefire – in effect from today – describing it as a ruse by Vladimir Putin to make it look like he wants peace.
But Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he stands by the offer to observe a 30-day ceasefire, something the US proposed in March.
“We are not withdrawing this proposal, which could give diplomacy a chance,” he said in his nightly video address.
Russia, he said, has not responded to the 30-day offer – except for new strikes.
“This clearly and obviously demonstrates to everyone who the source of the war is,” he added.
He also appeared to acknowledge numerous drone attacks on Russian sites, including Moscow, as the Victory Day commemorations approach.
“It is absolutely fair that Russian skies, the skies of the aggressor, are also not calm today, in a mirror-like way,” he said.
