SINGAPORE – A nine-year-old boy was conscious when taken to hospital following an accident involving a car in Moulmein on July 23.
The accident happened at the junction of Moulmein Road and Sinaran Drive, in the direction of Balestier Road, with the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force informed at about 2pm.
The boy was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and a 72-year-old male driver is assisting with investigations.
A video on Facebook shows the unaccompanied boy standing on a road divider before crossing the road. He is seen momentarily slowing down as he tilts his head towards ongoing traffic, with a car approaching.

The boy then speeds up and is apparently hit by the car, sending him tumbling to the ground. The car stops, and the boy gets up as the driver alights from the vehicle.
The number of accidents resulting in injuries increased from 6,949 cases in 2023 to 7,049 cases in 2024. The number of injured people increased from 8,941 in 2023 to 9,302 in 2024.
