All Creatures Great and Small star’s future sealed as Channel 5 address absence

Channel 5’s period drama All Creatures Great and Small has captivated audiences for five years, despite being a reboot of the original series from the late 1970s. The show, which began in 2020, has amassed a large fanbase over the years.

The programme is set in the fictional village of Darrowby and chronicles the life of vet James Herriot (portrayed by Nicholas Ralf) as he navigates the challenges of Yorkshire life.

Over the years, viewers have watched James adapt to farm life, marry Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton), welcome his first child, and grapple with global changes such as the onset of World War II.

James has formed strong bonds with other characters in Darrowby, including Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West), Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley), and Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse), who recently sparked exit rumours with a single-word response.

In the finale of series 5, the Skeldale House family rallied around Mrs Hall after she learned her son, Edward, had been injured when his ship was sunk by Japan.

This development has left fans speculating about Mrs Hall’s future, particularly following Channel 5’s release of a new social media video.

The clip features cast members summarising each series with one word ahead of series six, reports The Manchester Evening News.

They captioned the video: “The wonderful @allcreaturestv cast shared their one-word summaries for each series, and honestly, their responses are as heartwarming as the show itself [sic].”

However, in the brief video clip, only four actors made an appearance, with Anna Madeley, who portrays Mrs Hall, noticeably missing.

This absence quickly sparked comments from fans, many of whom began to worry that a departure might be imminent.

One concerned viewer queried: “Is Mrs. Hall gone?” Another chimed in: “Excited!!!! Missing Anna in this though.”

Another fan posted: “How lovely! But where is Mrs. H?” While another pleaded: “This is lovely. Please give us Anna, too, though. Can’t wait for s6.”

Fortunately, Channel 5’s official X account was quick to reassure worried fans, confirming that Mrs Hall would indeed be returning.

Responding to one anxious viewer, they commented: “Oh, don’t you worry, Mrs Hall will be there right on time when the new series starts.”

In another reply, they reassured another fan by stating: “Don’t worry, Mrs Hall is very much with us.”

While the premiere date for series six has yet to be confirmed, they hinted that it would be ‘soon’, assuring fans that it isn’t too far off.

All Creatures Great and Small is available to watch on MY5.
