Trump claims Russia and Ukraine will have peace but ‘they’re not ready yet’

Donald Trump has given an update on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine – claiming peace could come, but they’re not entirely sure when despite ongoing peace discussions

Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia will eventually lay down their arms and return to peace, but “they’re not ready yet”. All eyes have been on Washington in recent weeks, as the president has been hosting peace talks between Russia and the rest of Europe.

While no peace deal has been reached, and Putin has ramped up his attacks on Ukraine, Trump is not giving up his mission quite yet. Speaking to CBS, he said: “I’ve been watching it, I’ve been seeing it, and I’ve been talking about it with President Putin and President Zelenskyy.

“Something is going to happen, but they are not ready yet. But something is going to happen. We are going to get it done.”

He added that the nations might not be “ready yet”, but he’s confident it’s coming. He also shared this to his social media platform, Truth Social.

This comes just a week after Russia carried out a massive drone and missile attack against Ukraine’s capital, killing at least 15 people at the British Council.

Trump also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy along with other European leaders – including Keir Starmer – who are still working to maintain peace. Many spoke out against Putin’s attack on Kyiv, with Starmer declaring the act as “senseless”.

Meanwhile, the Russian President and other global figures have assembled in Beijing to commemorate the 80th anniversary of World War Two’s conclusion. He was joined by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as well as China’s President Xi Jinping.

Based on translator reports, the three leaders were overheard scheming about prolonging their existence, with the threesome exploring organ transplantation as a means to extend their lifespans.

Putin and Xi Jinping were spotted in conversation about the possibilities of attaining everlasting life, with Kim Jong-un joining the discussion. Both the North Korean supremo and his Russian equivalent have faced reported health challenges in recent times.

Their talks emerge against a backdrop of persistent accusations that China unlawfully harvests organs from imprisoned ethnic minorities.

“Earlier, people rarely lived to 70, but these days at 70 you are still a child,” Mr Xi told Putin, according to the translator. Putin responded: “With the development of biotechnology, human organs can be continuously transplanted and people can live younger and younger, and even achieve immortality.”

Xi then told him: “Predictions are, this century, there is also a chance of living to 150.”

While there, China also revealed an array of never-before-seen weapons – including long range missiles that could reach the UK. One of the weapons is also said to be 200 times stronger than Hiroshima’s atomic bomb.
