Green took part in a special event overseas, where a fan in a Poole jersey tried to score on him. Draymond Green Won His China Game
The former Defensive Player of the Year traveled to Quzhou, China, to take part in the Star Street Battle tournament. NBA commissioner Adam Silver has long encouraged stars to visit China and other countries to help grow the league’s global appeal.
Green teamed with local fan favorite Slim to face off against street ballers Chen Zewen and Cheng Xinkai in a two-on-two game to 100 points. The team with an actual NBA player cruised to an easy 100–59 victory. Even though street ballers play year-round, it’s nearly impossible for non-professionals to seriously challenge an NBA star.
At one point, Green bulldozed an opponent who went crashing to the floor, only to help him up seconds later. The funniest moment came when Green noticed the fan’s Poole jersey and turned the scene into a show, putting him in a playful headlock as a callback to the infamous fight that reshaped both his and Jordan Poole’s reputations.
Can Draymond & Jordan Poole Make Peace?
The Warriors deserve credit for keeping Draymond and Poole together for the rest of the season after their infamous early-season fight. Green striking Poole led to a fine and a public apology for doing something so unprofessional to a teammate. While they finished out the year as teammates, the divide was obvious and tension hung over the locker room.
Since leaving Golden State, Poole has expressed relief about moving on, even if his Washington Wizards team hasn’t come close to the Warriors’ success. The drama has continued through podcasts and social media, where Green has been more vocal about his side. Draymond recently denied rumors that a brutal insult from Poole triggered the fight or that Steve Kerr encouraged Poole to stand up to him.
