Apple’s latest iPhone 17 series is officially available for purchase in markets and while Indian fans were lining up outside Apple Stores in Mumbai’s BKC and Delhi’s Saket to grab their shiny new device, social media had its eyes elsewhere. A viral post on X revealed the jaw-dropping price tags of the iPhone 17 lineup in Pakistan, and let’s just say, the Internet is stunned.

According to an X user, Apple fans across the border will need to shell out between PKR 3.65 lakh (Rs 1.14 lakh) and PKR 5.74 lakh (Rs 1.79 lakh) for the iPhone Pro Max (Rs 1.70 lakh) to get their hands on their newly launched device.

Apart from that, the user mentioned that the iPhone Air at PKR 483,680 (Rs 1.51 lakh) and the iPhone 17 Pro at PKR 531,680 (Rs 1.66 lakh).

That’s not all. A quick check on Apple Pakistan’s official website shows slightly different pricing. The iPhone 17 starts at PKR 325,000 (Rs 1.01 lakh) and goes up to PKR 445,500 (Rs 1.35 lakh), while the iPhone 17 Air ranges between PKR 398,500 and PKR 536,500 (Rs 1.24 lakh-Rs 1.68 lakh). As for Pro version, it costs between PKR 440,500 and PKR 748,500 (Rs 1.37 lakh – Rs 2.34 lakh), depending on the variant.

To put things into perspective, 1 Pakistani Rupee equals about 0.31 Indian Rupee.

iPhone 17 Series: Prices In India

In India, the price of the iPhone 17 lineup is more affordable compared to its Pakistani counterparts. The iPhone 17 starts at Rs 82,900 for the 256GB model and goes up to Rs 1,02,900 for the 512GB option. The iPhone 17 Air is priced at Rs 1,19,900 for 256GB, Rs 1,39,900 for 512GB and Rs 1,59,900 for the 1TB version. The Pro variant begins at Rs 1,34,900 for 256GB, with higher storage options like 512GB at Rs 1,54,900 and 1TB at Rs 1,74,900. The most expensive, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, starts at Rs 1,49,900 for 256GB and extends all the way to Rs 2,29,900 for the top-end 2TB model.

To add to the excitement, colour options ranging from Lavender and Mist Blue to Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue are available for iPhone lovers.

Social media reacts

The viral post about Pakistan’s iPhone pricing has triggered a flood of reactions online. Many users expressed disbelief, with a person even asking, “Phone rates or prices of flats?” A user expressed curiosity, asking, “Also tell that what the price is in China and the USA?” Someone else added, “It’s mostly taxes.”

Despite the high prices, fans are enthusiastically lining up outside the Apple store to grab their phones.
