Zubeen Garg’s autopsy report handed to Indian authorities: Singapore police confirm cooperation; Assam CID expands probe

The untimely passing of music legend Zubeen Garg has taken a serious turn as Singapore Police have officially passed his autopsy report to the Indian High Commission. In light of this development, Assam CID has heightened its investigation, now pursuing a murder charge under the BNS Act.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has reportedly confirmed that the autopsy report of late Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg has been handed over to the High Commission of India.Alongside the detailed report, preliminary findings related to his passing were also shared upon India’s request.As reported by ANI, while investigations are still ongoing, Singapore Police urged the public to avoid circulating sensitive videos or images related to the incident.

According to the reports, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police has intensified its probe into Zubeen’s sudden death.

On Thursday (October 2), CID officials arrested co-musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to four. Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP and SIT Chief, confirmed that the arrests came after multiple rounds of interrogation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).Earlier this week, CID had already taken into custody Shyamkanu Mahanta, the main organiser of the North East India Festival in Singapore, and Siddharth Sharma, Zubeen’s manager. Both were remanded to 14 days’ police custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Kamrup (Metro). Notably, CID has added a murder charge under the BNS Act to the registered case.

Tributes pour in for Zubeen Garg

Zubeen Garg was aged 52. His untimely demise on September 19 in Singapore, reportedly following a drowning accident, shook the entire nation.PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to share tribute for the legendary singer. His Tweet read, “Zubeen Garg was a shining gem of Assam’s cultural heritage. He will always live in the hearts of the people!” Pritam Chakraborty took to Instagram to share tribute that read, “Zubeen losing his life in an accident is just the most terrible and saddest news. I’m still trying to come to terms with it… My deepest condolences to Garima and his family. Om Shanti.”Adnan Sami mourned the loss of Zubeen Garg and his social media note read, “I’m extremely shocked & saddened by the sudden & tragic death of my dear friend & extremely talented Zubeen Garg. My deepest heartfelt condolences to his family. I can’t even begin to imagine how devastated they must be at this trying moment. May God bless Zubeen’s Soul & give his family strength to deal with their unimaginable grief.… RIP…”
