IIM Indore marks 29th foundation day: Celebrates global achievements, honours faculty and staff excellence

MUMBAI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore marked its 29th Foundation Day with a celebration that reflected its spirit of purpose and community. Faculty, staff, students and alumni came together to honour the institute’s journey, defined not by pursuit of recognition but by relevance and impact. In his Foundation Day address, Director Prof Himanshu Rai reflected on IIM Indore’s growth—from a young management school in central India to one with global standing. He emphasised the importance of continuity and purpose over fleeting fame.“At IIM Indore, our journey is guided by the mind, the body and the soul. The mind drives innovation and inquiry, the body turns ideas into action, and the soul anchors us in values and purpose. Together, they ensure we pursue not just success, but significance,” Prof Rai said. That significance, he noted, is evident in IIM Indore’s growing international presence. The institute now ranks 69th globally in the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2025, 4th among Indian B-schools in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2025, and features in the top 40 institutions worldwide on the LinkedIn MBA list. These milestones, he added, represent a collective effort towards a shared vision. The event also recognised the people who have contributed to that vision. Prof Prashant Salwan received the Best Teacher Award 2024 for excellence in teaching, while Prof Ganesh Nidugala won the Best Case Award for his work on the Indian Rupee Crisis of 2013. Prof Sanjeev Tripathi was honoured with the Best Teaching Innovation Award for his creative classroom methods.Faculty members ranked in the top five per cent based on student feedback—Prof Manoj Motiani, Prof Bhavin J Shah, Prof Harshal Lowalekar, Prof Shrihari S Sohani, Prof Jatin Pandey and Prof Saumya Ranjan Dash—were also felicitated, underscoring the institute’s emphasis on academic excellence and student engagement. The institute’s staff were equally celebrated. Best Employee Awards went to Kamlesh Bhatia, Anurag Kumar Rai, Shyam Rao and Satendra Singh Rawat, while long-service awards recognised employees completing 10, 20 and 25 years of dedicated service. The Foundation Day also offered a glimpse into IIM Indore’s future. Upcoming events include an International Partners’ Day to strengthen global collaborations, the Sport and Business Conference 2.0 on 9–10 October to discuss India’s readiness for the 2036 Olympics, and the 18th All India Conference of China Studies later this month, which will explore trade, technology and sustainability in a multipolar world. The year will conclude with the 18th Eduniversal World Convention, bringing together global educators and reaffirming IIM Indore’s role as a thought leader in management education. As the institute enters its 30th year, the message from its 29th Foundation Day was clear — IIM Indore stands proud of its legacy, confident in its future, and committed to nurturing leaders with both knowledge and conscience.
