Hamilton Hits Back at Alonso Over Fiery Radio Outburst in Singapore

Lewis Hamilton appears to have hit back at Fernando Alonso’s team radio rant during the Singapore Grand Prix.

On Sunday, Mercedes star George Russell produced a masterclass to win the Singapore Grand Prix ahead of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.

The McLarens dominated the start of the race after Norris and Oscar Piastri made contact during the opening lap.

However, as the race came to a close, Hamilton and Alonso were the big talking points.

The Ferrari driver was hoping to chase down Mercedes star Kimi Antonelli for a fifth-place finish.

However, as Hamilton approached the young Italian, the brakes on his SF-25 began to fail.

As a result, the 40-year-old was unable to keep up with Antonelli and was also overtaken by teammate Charles Leclerc.

In the end, Hamilton held off the challenge of Alonso, who had made up a gap of nearly 45 seconds to finish just 0.4 seconds behind the Brit.

Expressing his frustrations on his team radio, the Spaniard repeatedly said: “I can not f***ing believe it. I can not f***ing believe it. I can not f***ing believe it. I can not f***ing believe it. Is it safe to drive with no brakes?

“Should be f***ing P7. You can not drive. No respect for the red flag yesterday. Today, free track for them. Maybe too much”

Shortly after the race, Hamilton was handed a five-second penalty for leaving the track on multiple occasions, meaning he ended up finishing behind Alonso in the final order.

A day after Alonso’s outburst, Hamilton appeared to hit back with a social media post of his own.

Taking to Instagram, Hamilton posted a video of the character Victor Meldrew from One Foot in the Grave, expressing his famous catchphrase: “I don’t believe it!”.

Accompanied with the video was Hamilton’s caption: “18 years of…”

18 years ago, Hamilton and Alonso were teammates and the pair endured a turbulent campaign, with the Brit finishing second and Alonso third.

The 2025 Formula 1 season will continue next weekend with the United States Grand Prix, taking place around the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
