Who is Ran Takahashi? Japanese volleyball star denies cheating scandal involving adult film actress Saika Kawakita

Japanese volleyball sensation Ran Takahashi, 24, has spoken out following widespread speculation about his private life and cheating rumors after Bunshun Online, a major Japanese entertainment outlet, published reports linking him to model Uka and adult film actress Saika Kawakita (also known as Ayaka Kawakita).

The controversy began when Bunshun Online released an exposé alleging that Takahashi, widely regarded as the poster boy of Japanese volleyball, had been involved in an affair with Kawakita Ayaka while in a relationship with influencer Uka. The publication claimed that after Japan’s volleyball match against Bulgaria on September 3, Takahashi and Kawakita were spotted dining privately in Tokyo’s Roppongi district. Later that night, they allegedly checked into a luxury hotel together.

A second alleged encounter reportedly took place on September 30, when Takahashi traveled from Osaka to Tokyo after an event and spent the night with Kawakita at a five-star hotel in Shinagawa.
Fans and the general public were immediately incensed by the news of this affair. The names of Uka, Ayaka Kawakita, and Ran Takahashi became popular in Japan on social media platforms like X.

Ran Takahashi and Uka’s relationship timeline

According to Bunshun, Takahashi has been dating Uka, a 26-year-old model and influencer, since last year. Uka, who has more than 150,000 Instagram followers, reportedly met the athlete through mutual industry contacts. While the couple maintained a private relationship, friends close to them were aware of their ongoing romance, reports kbizoom.

Recently, Bunshun published new photos showing Takahashi and Uka meeting in Osaka, where he currently lives. They were allegedly seen arriving at the same luxury spa before returning to Takahashi’s apartment building later that evening.

Takahashi’s response

Ran Takahashi has addressed growing media attention surrounding his private and cheating allegations. “Yes, I met Uka yesterday. We’re just friends, nothing more. We went there with a group of friends not alone,” kbizoom quoted him as him as saying, answering journalists’ questions about his private life.
Addressing previous speculation involving actress Saika Kawakita, he added, “She’s a friend and colleague. There’s nothing romantic between us. I recommend you contact my agency if you need more details.”
Later, representatives of Kawakita and Uka as well as Takahashi’s management team released succinct statements stressing that the private affairs of their clients are “private and left to individual discretion.”
