Filipino-British Jake Jarman in Cebu after World Championships

MANILA, Philippines — Following his gold medal at the floor exercise at the 2025 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Indonesia, Filipino British artistic gymnast Jake Jarman returned to his roots in Cebu.

“Made it to Cebu,” Jarman, whose mother is a Cebuana, wrote on his X platform on Monday.

Jarman’s Instagram stories showed his adventures in Cebu, having even bought new clothes at a mall there.

In Jakarta, Jarman topped teammate Luke Whitehouse and Filipino Olympic champion Carlos Yulo in the men’s floor exercise.

“I’m going on holiday to the Philippines after this [World Championships]. I can’t wait, I’m excited,” Jarman told a Filipino reporter in Jakarta, following his gold medal performance.

Last year, after he won bronze at the Paris Olympics behind Yulo and Israel’s Artem Dolgopyat, Jarman’s former teacher made a post using her school’s Facebook page about his time there.

“Remember those days in Sage & Cambridge (Lahug) Cebu preschool?  Back then, you were always full of energy packed in a petite frame.  But your mind and heart were big beyond measure. I am so proud of you!  Keep up your hard work and achievements!” Anna Gallo-Sim, his former preschool teacher, said at the time.
