Watch: man saves cat from python in Singapore by swinging snake mid-attack in viral video

A man in Singapore rescued a cat from a python by swinging the snake through the air while filming the incident. The one-minute clip, recorded by Marcus Lee and posted on Facebook on Oct. 30, shows him using one hand to hold his phone and the other to lift the snake by its tail. Lee said he reacted after hearing a “gurgling gasp” coming from nearby vegetation. “In a flash, I saw the snake’s exposed tail.

Acting on pure instinct, I seized it and lifted both predator and prey from the concrete,” he wrote in the post. Before his intervention, the python had coiled around the cat in a drain and was in the process of suffocating it. The video shows Lee pulling the python out of the drain as it remained tightly wrapped around the cat.

He swung both animals repeatedly, then used his foot to separate the snake from the feline. After several attempts, the cat managed to break free and darted away. The python was later seen slithering off into nearby vegetation. In his caption, Lee wrote that the cat “shot into the safety of the shadows” after escaping.

Mixed reactions from viewers online

The footage, shared on the Singapore Wildlife Sightings Facebook page, drew divided responses. Some viewers argued that Lee had interfered with a natural predation event, while others praised his quick actions in saving the animal.Others criticized his decision to film with one hand instead of using both to free the cat sooner. Despite the divided opinions, the video quickly spread across social media, gaining attention for its unusual and intense nature.
