Justin Trudeau confirms relationship with Katy Perry with ‘crazy’ post

Former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and pop superstar Katy Perry have just shared ‘the craziest hard launch in the history of the free world’, according to fans.

Perry and her ex Orlando Bloom confirmed they had called off their engagement in June 2025, with the performer’s latest song giving us some clues as to why that might have happened. But few would have predicted that she’d be dating a former prime minister by the end of the year.

However, it wasn’t long until the ‘Hot N Cold’ singer was spotted with Justin Trudeau, who served as Canada’s prime minister from 2015 until his resignation at the start of this year, and there’s no denying that he’s far more good-looking than some of the old PMs we have here in the UK, as well as a certain overlord in the US.

It’s long been rumoured that the two have been dating, with the pair ‘soft launching’ each other with restaurant dates and trips, and they were even pictured playing tonsil tennis on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California back in July.

But it seems as if they’ve now officially ‘hard-launched’ with Perry also seemingly entering the world of politics.

Trudeau and Perry were joined by Japanese politician Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko for a very Christmassy picture, which the member of the house of representatives of Japan proudly shared on social media, perhaps without realising that he was confirming their relationship.

But the 53-year-old politician certainly took it well, quoting the post and writing: “Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.

“Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.”

Fans were gobsmacked, with one writing: “‘Katy and I’ is something that I could’ve never imagined.”

Another wrote: “The fact that Taylor’s hard launch with Travis involved Prince William, while Justin and Katy did theirs with Japan’s prime minister… pop stars are announcing relationships like politicians and I love it.”

This is a reference to a selfie Swift shared with Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte at one of her concerts in June last year, which also just so happened to include Kelce in the first picture they’d shared together on Instagram.

Perry has a history of impressive launches given she blasted off into space on Jeff Bezos‘ rocket earlier this year, but having her relationship confirmed via international diplomacy might well be a ‘Dark Horse’ for the best hard launch in history.

It’s been a busy few months for the 41-year-old, who has also been dragged into a $5 million legal battle with a disabled war veteran in the US.
