A three-year-old toddler in eastern China has captivated the nation with her striking Caucasian features, despite her parents being Chinese. The story has garnered 120 million views on mainland social media.
Living in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, her parents were initially puzzled by their daughter’s unusual appearance. They even wondered if the hospital had mistakenly given them the wrong baby when she was born in May 2022.
However, multiple DNA tests confirmed that the girl, nicknamed Guojiang (which means “jam”), is indeed their biological child, according to Haibao News.
Upon investigating their family’s genetic history, they discovered that Guojiang’s paternal great-grandfather was Russian. This great-grandfather married a woman from central China’s Henan province and had lived in China since then; he passed away in 1985.

Guojiang’s father, surnamed Yang, noted that all previous births in his family had resulted in male offspring.
“The recessive genes inherited from my great-grandfather, which affect our appearance, seem to be inactive in males,” Yang explained.
He remarked that he and his male relatives, including his father, do not exhibit any mixed heritage traits.
