Pakistan Dominate U19 Asia Cup Final With Bat and Ball

Pakistan set up a crushing win by first piling on a huge total, led by Sameer Minhas’ explosive 172 from 113 balls, which took them to 347/8. The bowlers then took complete control, with the pace attack sharing wickets and bowling India out for just 156 in 26.2 overs.

India’s chase started at a rapid pace despite losing Ayush Mhatre early. Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed 21 runs in the very first over, and Aaron George added momentum with three fours in one over as India scored at around 10 runs per over.

The game turned suddenly in the space of two balls. George was dismissed on the last delivery of the fourth over, and Suryavanshi fell on the first ball of the fifth. That double setback broke India’s rhythm, triggered a collapse, and ended any realistic hopes of a comeback.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines Early but Fades in Knockouts

Vaibhav Suryavanshi started the Under-19 Asia Cup in stunning fashion. He scored a century off just 56 balls against the UAE and finished with 171 runs off 95 deliveries, including nine fours and 14 sixes. Vaibhav also smashed a half-century against Malaysia, reaching the milestone in just 25 balls.

However, his form dipped when it mattered most. Suryavanshi failed to make an impact in the semi-final against Sri Lanka and the final against Pakistan, which hurt India in the knockout stages.

The 14-year-old still ended the tournament with 261 runs from five innings at an average of 52.20 and a strike rate of 182.51, including one century and one half-century. After the Under-19 campaign, he is expected to return to play in the U-19 World Cup.
