But there are other uses for the device that might surprise people. A restaurant in Malaysia found an unexpected use for Dyson hair dryers – keeping their pisang goreng (banana fritters) crispy. The video was first shared on TikTok by a user named @leeshuhadah.

Restaurants are known for using hacks to keep their food fresh and tasty, but an eatery using a Dyson hair dryer for fritters was new knowledge for many social media users.

The video shows a chef blow-drying a fritter for a few seconds before moving on to the next. The text over the video revealed that the device was being used to quickly cool down freshly made pisang goreng. The text over the video read, “We’ve not been fully utilising our Dysons.” The clip was shared by Malay Mail on Instagram earlier this year with the caption, “Using a hairdryer to keep pisang goreng crispy? This kitchen hack gives the hair tool an unexpected new role.”

Many Instagram users found the video to be a hilarious hack. “Taking HIGH Class to a different level!!” one user joked.

Yeo Eng Koon, a commercial kitchen solutions company in Singapore, joined in the discussion and wrote, “Maybe we should start listing it under commercial kitchen equipment.”

Another remarked, “I often do this when eating something extremely hot and in a hurry.”

“Must be expensive fritters,” an account quipped, referring to how expensive Dyson’s air dryers are.

“The goreng pisang from curve to straighten. Lolll,” another commented.

Several users claimed that the device shown in the video was not a Dyson hair dryer, but a cheap lookalike. “Lot of knockoff brands selling the same nowadays, not js Dyson,” a comment read.
