A newly constructed intersection in Minhang District of Shanghai, China, collapsed into a massive sinkhole on Wednesday, February 11, following a technical failure at a nearby subway construction site. The dramatic scene captured on camera shows a massive part of the road suddenly caving in.
However, no reports of injuries or casualties in the following incident. Local authorities have confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries. The incident occurred at the junction of Qixin Road and Li’an Road, an area currently undergoing significant underground works for the new Jiamin Metro Line.

Social media users suggest the incident was triggered by a leak at the construction site of the Qixin Road station. Shanghai municipal authorities cordoned off a large perimeter around the affected area. Both Qixin Road and Li’an Road remain closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
