And honestly, we can’t really fault them. The aforementioned fast food restaurant chain launched a Global Taco Vote last week, pitting a Thailand-inspired chicken taco against a butter chicken one, the latter an original hot pick from the ‘Desi menu’ launched by the brand back in 2023. Rewards members called the shots on this one, with the option to vote on the daily. And butter chicken won the face-off fair and square. 65% of voters chose the desi-fusion Mexican fold to be made available in the US, albeit as a limited-time offer, later in the year. Of course this is about the shredded chicken being melted in the creamy, tomato curry, elevated in Indian spices, supplemented with onion, cilantro, lettuce and cheddar, and wrapped in a crunch-perfect fried chalupa shell. What it’s also about but, are the double standards.
